Member’s update: new website and member database

17/05/2023

As the new AELERT website prepares to launch next week, we’re excited to transition to a new member database.

This site will remain live until further notice, as we transition member data and resources.

We’ve been busy working Agency Members to update the accuracy of our database records as we prepare to launch the new site.

The new database will allow Agency and Affiliate Members to:

  • Manage all individual accounts under their Membership
  • Invite team members to join via one simple link
  • Update their Membership details at any time.

Who can access the new member’s area?

We’ve decided to give all AELERT Agency and Affiliate Members access to the new site for a limited time, so you can experience the benefits and new services available.

If you have access to the current website, you can potentially get access to the new one: but an Admin from your Agency/Organisation will need to create an account first.

Get ready to set up a new password

Once your employing Agency/Organisation has signed up to the new site, they’ll be able to create and send a link to team members.

When you get this link, you can sign up and access the member’s area of the new site. Registration for individuals is a free, ‘one off’ process.

Can I still log in to thIs site?

Yes. Access to old members area content will continue for several months as we transition to the new site.

You won’t be able to post new content, but you can access your profile, see discussion board posts, private group pages and resources.

INFO FOR AGENCIES AND AFFILIATES

It takes less than a minute to sign your Agency or Organisation on to the new website.

You can contact the Leadership Team at any time for instructions on how to do this.

Instructions will also be sent to all Agency and Affiliate key contacts in the following weeks: as we contact Members regarding 2023-24 AELERT Membership renewal.

We encourage you to renew your Membership with AELERT for 2023-24 and help keep AELERT sustainable.

Questions?

If you’d like assistance or have any questions: email the team aelert@dcceew.gov.au at any time.

Playback: Emerging Technologies: Environmental Compliance, Citizen Science and Monitoring

05/05/2023

Don't miss this fascinating discussion, 'Emerging Technologies: Environmental Compliance, Citizen Science and Monitoring'

WATCH NOW

 An ELI Public Webinar

Technological advances have given both environmental agencies and citizens new ability to monitor compliance and address environmental problems, especially in areas that suffer disproportionate impacts. During the fall of 2020, INECE convened a six-part webinar discussing issues related to the possible role of citizen science, or participatory science, in compliance and enforcement. INECE launched the series recognizing the rapidly increasing interest in citizen monitoring and the similarly rapid growth in low-cost monitoring technologies. Offsite monitoring technology also became a more important issue during the pandemic, as access to some sites became increasingly limited.

Join ELI, INECE, and a panel of experts to reflect on (1) how recently deployed and emerging technologies can be used by agencies and citizens to measure environmental emissions or discharges, (2) how this data can be used to support compliance and enforcement efforts and (3) the reliability of data derived from some of the leading new technologies. The webinar will also feature a discussion of legal issues associated with utilizing advanced monitoring technologies. We expect that this information will help compliance and enforcement officials understand the role advanced technologies can play in their work and the contribution citizen-generated data from advanced technologies can make to compliance and enforcement.

Panelists:
John Cruden
, Principal, Beveridge & Diamond, P.C
Tim Dye, President, TD Environmental Services
Gerry Opondo, Executive Director, Environmental Compliance Institute

The public will have subsequent access to a recording of this session (usually posted in 1-3 business days). If you are not an ELI member but would like to have access to other archived sessions, please see the many benefits of membership and how to join.
